Thank you for coming back for part two of the Pinterest series, (although it be a little late)! As we discussed earlier, in this chapter, we are going to evaluate the boards that you should include in your Pinterest marketing campaign.
There is conflicting information online about what boards will serve your business best. Let’s take a look at the agreed upon must haves:
1.) DIY or Do-it-Yourself– If you have spent anytime on Pinterest, you have seen a plethora of DIY projects for: home decor, kids crafts, holiday fun and much, much more. Having a DIY board might encourage people who wouldn’t typically follow you, to go ahead and click the follow button. Once someone is following you, they will see all of the things you pin to every board you have. This is a great way to get your product or service noticed.
2.) Holiday Boards– Christmas, Halloween, 4th of July, Valentine’s Day and all the rest; holiday boards are widely popular among the Pinterest fan base. If your business, is say home furnishings, it is likely you carry products that fit into some of these boards, so they serve well for you to have. However, even if you do not have any product or service that you would categorize as fitting into these boards, they too, are great for establishing followers. These are my personal favorite!
3.) How-To Boards– Another popular board on Pinterest, are the How-To Boards. These boards are full of How-To- infographic walk throughs of How-To do any and everything you can imagine.
4.) Tip and Tricks Boards– These boards are great for incorporating tips and tricks that pertain to your products and/or services. For example, if your business is skin care, tips and tricks on make up application and removal might prove useful to your brand. You can create blog content that is applicable for pinning to this board. Again, these boards are meant to help create followers, so your bigger pin interests are seen.
5.) Blog Spot– Blog Boards are probably the most important boards you can have for helping to bring traffic to your website. Creating nice inforgraphics, or pinnable images are important for making this content pin worthy. Providing, good, quality content is an important part of your marketing plan and by having a blog spot board, you provide a platform to share it on Pinterest.
The purpose of all of these boards, is to create followers to your business Pinterest account, so that people will be exposed to your products or services. If you create a Pinterest account that only ever promotes your own company product, you will likely fail at expanding your following base. Think of it this way, when you go to buy a car…how much do you appreciate the relentless salesman and his pitch? Exactly!
In our next part of the Pinterest Series, we will discuss interacting with your followers, inviting followers to pin and marketing boards.
